Filing for Dissolution in Allen County, Ohio
Allen County (Lima) keeps things relatively simple: it uses the standard Ohio Supreme Court dissolution forms plus one local Case Designation Sheet that's required with every new filing. Three Allen-specific things matter most: (1) the two Magistrates (Drexler and Kerber) provide MEDIATION services on request, which can resolve disputes without a full court hearing; (2) cases with children require a separate parenting program course fee paid AT the time of filing in addition to the standard court costs (the fee can be waived in appropriate cases); and (3) fax filing is allowed for documents after the original filing — up to 20 pages per transmission. Court is held in the historic Allen County Courthouse at 301 North Main Street, on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. Final hearings are typically set 30–90 days after filing and both spouses must attend.
