Pickaway County Procedure Quirks

• The Clerk strongly prefers in-person or mailed filings. Later documents may be e-mailed to clerkofcourts@pickawaycountyohio.gov as a PDF or Word file ($2.00 cover page + $1.00 per additional page), but the original complaint that starts a case cannot be e-mailed (Local Rule 4).
• Anything e-mailed after 1:00 p.m., or on a day the Clerk's office is closed, is filed the next business day.
• Confirm the current $250.00 deposit and number of copies with the Clerk of Courts at (740) 474-5231 before you file; cash, money order, attorney check, debit, or credit card only.

Parenting Class

Parenting class (only if ordered) — Confirm with the Court
Pickaway's Local Rules do not establish a named, mandatory parenting seminar. In a contested custody or parenting-time case the assigned magistrate may order a parenting class under R.C. 3109.053 — confirm with the Court whether one is required and which provider to use.

Combined Probate and Juvenile Court. Hears never-married-parent custody, parenting time, child support, and paternity matters, plus unruly, delinquent, abuse, neglect, dependency, and juvenile traffic cases.

Domestic Relations vs. Juvenile

Pickaway keeps both at the same address: married or divorcing spouses file divorces and dissolutions with the Clerk for the Common Pleas General & Domestic Relations Division (2nd Floor, 207 South Court Street); never-married parents and juvenile matters go to the separately-staffed Probate & Juvenile Court in the same building.
