A Domestic Violence Civil Protection Order under R.C. 3113.31 can order an abuser to stay away, surrender weapons, and leave a shared home. In Lorain County, ex parte DVCPO petitions must be filed in person at 225 Court Street, Elyria, during business hours — they cannot be e-filed. There is no filing fee.

The court hears your sworn statement the same day; if an ex parte order issues, the full hearing follows within 10 court days (7 court days if the respondent must vacate the home).
