- Mercer County's General Division (Judge Matthew K. Fox) hears all Domestic Relations cases — there is no separate Domestic Relations court — and the Clerk's Legal Division files them.
- Divorce, dissolution, and post-decree motions each carry a $350 deposit effective 4/1/2024; no personal checks are accepted (cash, money order, cashier's check, or pay online via LexisNexis).
- Never-married parents file in the Probate/Juvenile Division (Judge Matthew L. Gilmore); a new custody, support, visitation, or paternity case carries a $200 deposit plus a $25 stenographer's fee.
- Parents of minor children in a divorce or dissolution must attend the A-OK Parenting Program before the final hearing (Common Pleas Local Rule 21.02) — a one-time $30 per person, with the court mailing your assigned date after you file.
- The A-OK class runs 6:00–9:00 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November in Room 303 of the courthouse; juvenile (never-married) cases are generally not ordered into it.

Why Mercer County is different
One General Division decides every divorce
Mercer County does not have a standalone Domestic Relations court. Judge Matthew K. Fox and Magistrate Richard M. Delzeith in the General Division decide divorce, dissolution, legal separation, annulment, post-decree matters, and civil protection orders, with the Clerk's Legal Division (Room 205) handling filing and deposits. A-OK parenting class on a fixed calendar
The A-OK Parenting Program is required for divorcing and dissolving parents of minor children (Local Rule 21.02). It costs $30 per person paid at the class, runs only six evenings a year (the 4th Tuesday of odd months, 6–9 p.m. in Room 303), and you are registered automatically when you file. Standard Parenting Time (SO 2)
The General Division's default schedule (revised November 2025) gives alternating weekends Friday 7 p.m. to Sunday 7 p.m., one weekday evening (5:30–8:30 p.m.), alternating holidays, and five weeks of uninterrupted summer time each, unless parents agree otherwise or the court orders a different schedule.
