Ohio professionals and community organizations: we'd like to hear from you

Every week, families across all 88 Ohio counties come to Gavvl Law in the middle of a divorce, a custody case or a crisis. Most of them need more than a lawyer. They need a counselor, a safe place to live, a mover, childcare, a job. If that is what you do, we would like to know you exist.
“Who do you recommend for ___?”
Our attorneys, paralegals and case managers talk with clients every week, and that question comes up constantly. We are not therapists, movers or housing specialists, and we would rather answer with the name of a professional we have spoken to than with a Google search.
So we keep a list, organized by county, of Ohio professionals whose services fit what our clients ask for. There is no fee to be on it, no obligation either direction, and no exclusivity. Clients make their own choices; we just make sure they know good options exist.
- Statewide clients, local needs. Gavvl serves every Ohio county, with attorneys based in and around Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Cleveland. A professional who serves one county well is exactly who we want to know about.
- Families in motion. Gavvl speaks with well over a hundred new Ohio families every month. Nearly every one of them is a household changing homes, schedules, budgets or jobs.
- A firm built on access. We offer full representation and flat-fee limited-scope services so families at every budget get help. We look for professionals who think about access the same way.
If you help families through a hard season, introduce yourself
Mental health and counseling
Therapists, counselors, divorce coaches and support groups. Our clients ask for a counselor more than anything else, and we are not qualified to answer. We want to know licensed Ohio providers who take new clients during a crisis, understand high-conflict co-parenting, and are comfortable when an attorney is also in the picture.
Child therapy and family counseling
Child and adolescent therapists, play therapists, reunification specialists. Courts ask for it, parents want it, and wait lists are long. If you treat children of separating parents and have openings, our team should know your name.
Domestic violence assistance
Shelters, advocates, hotlines, legal advocacy programs. Gavvl handles civil protection orders across Ohio and takes safety seriously. We want to know your intake process and who to call so a client in danger is not handed a brochure.
Housing solutions
Transitional housing, apartment locators, landlords and property managers, housing nonprofits. One spouse almost always has to move, often with children and on short notice. Providers who can place a family in 30 days or less, and who understand that a pending case is not a credit risk, are rare.
Real estate services
Realtors experienced in divorce sales, including CDREs. The marital home is the largest asset in most of our cases. Agents who can list a house when both owners are not speaking, and keep both informed, are the ones our clients ask for.
Moving and relocation services
Local and long-distance movers, storage, relocation consultants. Our clients move under a court order, by a deadline, and sometimes while the other party is home. Discreet, insured, quick to quote.
Childcare connections
Daycares, after-school programs, nanny agencies, drop-in care. A newly single parent often needs childcare before a job, and needs it on a court's schedule. Providers with openings, flexible hours, and some familiarity with custody paperwork.
Transportation assistance
Rideshare programs, vehicle donation and loan programs, transit navigators. Getting to court, to a supervised visit, or to a new job is a real barrier for many of our clients.
Temporary staffing and job placement
Staffing agencies, workforce programs, career coaches, resume services. A stay-at-home parent re-entering the workforce is a story we hear weekly. Agencies that place quickly and treat a 10-year gap as a strength.
Anything else that touches a family in transition
Mediators, parenting coordinators, financial planners, credit counselors, youth programs, elder-care services. If a Gavvl client would be better off knowing you exist, tell us.
A conversation, not a contract
- Tell us about your work. The short form below takes two minutes: what you do, which Ohio counties you serve, and how clients reach you.
- A short call. Someone from our team will reach out within two business days to learn about your services, your capacity and your intake process, and to answer your questions about how Gavvl works with clients.
- If it fits, our team knows you. Your information goes on the county-organized list our attorneys, paralegals and case managers use when a client asks for help in your area. Clients decide for themselves whether to call you.
- Keep us current. If your capacity, service area or contact information changes, let us know. Either of us can step away at any time with an email.
There is no fee, no referral payment in either direction, and no exclusivity. Gavvl does not pay for client referrals and does not accept them. We share information with clients; they make their own choices.
Doing something good for Ohio families? We'd love to hear about it.
Gavvl is a Columbus-headquartered firm with attorneys across Ohio, and we care about the communities our clients live in. If your organization runs an event, program or drive that benefits families going through a life transition, children in those families, or the neighborhoods they call home, tell us about your work and the opportunity. We review every request on its own merits.
Examples we're glad to hear about: back-to-school and holiday drives, shelter and housing program events, youth sports and arts programs, parent education and co-parenting workshops, workforce fairs, community fundraisers and 5Ks, school and PTO events, legal-aid and pro bono clinics.
Community contact: Niva Elgin, Director of Attorney Relations, niva@gavvl.com. Tell us about a community event.
Community support decisions are made independently of any professional relationship with the firm and are never tied to client referrals.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is there a fee to be on your list, or do you pay for referrals?
- No and no. Ohio's Rules of Professional Conduct bar lawyers from paying for client referrals, and we don't accept them either. Our list is simply the professionals our team has spoken with and would feel comfortable mentioning.
- Will you send clients only to us?
- No. We keep more than one name per category and per county so clients have real choices. Exclusivity is not something we offer or ask for.
- We only serve one county. Is that a problem?
- No. Our clients are spread across all 88 counties, so a provider who serves one county with real capacity is more useful to us than a statewide name with a waitlist.
- How will clients hear about us?
- From their attorney, paralegal or case manager, when they ask for help in your area. We share your contact information. We never share a client's case details with you without the client's consent.
- We're a nonprofit. Which form should we use?
- If you provide a service our clients might use, the professional form. If you have an event, program or drive you'd like Gavvl to support, the community form. Both is fine.
- Can you sponsor our event if we also refer clients to you?
- We look at every community request on its own, and community support is never tied to referrals in either direction.
Ohio families don't get through this alone. Neither should the people who help them.
Whether you run a counseling practice in Dayton, a shelter in Toledo, a moving company in Columbus or a workforce program in Cincinnati, there is a Gavvl client near you who could use what you do this month.
